EDUCATION The city is served by the Whitehouse Independent School District. The district consists of seven schools including Cain Elementary School, Mozelle Brown Elementary School, Higgins Intermediate School, Holloway Middle School, Whitehouse Junior High School, Whitehouse High School, and AIM Center. As mentioned earlier, the districts great reputation and hard work is one factor contributing to the Whitehouse's strong growth rate, not to mention recognition that it's getting, including the "One of BScene's Best" award for two straight years.
Like Chandler, Texas, Whitehouse's proximity to Tyler, Texas means that any students attending post-secondary school can live in Whitehouse and have a short drive to Tyler's multiple campuses, including the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler, both part of the University of Texas System. As well, there is the Tyler Junior College, and Texas College. As well, Whitehouse is still close to other facilities including Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas A&M University, and Trinity Valley Community College.
RECREATION Neighborhood spirit is a big part of the Whitehouse community; as well, there is importance placed on the history of the area. Both the neighborhood spirit and the important of history is reflected in the annual Whitehouse YesterYear celebration. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, the area surrounding Whitehouse gives you great opportunities for both land and water adventures. Located in East Texas, Whitehouse is close to Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East with access to playgrounds, picnic facilities, RV park, boat ramps, fishing, swimming, skiing, pleasure and fishing barges. Within Whitehouse itself, the parks and fields provide great facilities for organized sports such as baseball, softball, basketball and soccer. If you like golfing, there is access to great golfing in the area including the Hollytree Country Club, the Oak Hurst Golf Course, the Peach Tree Golf Course, the Arrowhead Golf Club and The Cascades.
