The city of Chandler is located in Henderson County and had a 2000 census population was 2,099. Chandler is known as the "City with a Heart, is located on State Highway 31 just 8 miles west of Tyler, Texas, and is the gateway to beautiful Lake Palestine. This man-made lake, located just south of the city, is fed by the Neches River and is known to have various waterfowl making the area home, as well as migratory species during the cooler season. EDUCATION The City of Chandler is served by the Brownsboro Independent School District with Chandler having its own Chandler Elementary and Chandler Intermediate schools. Brownsboro Junior High and Brownsboro High School are available to students from Chandler.

Tyler is home to multiple campuses, including the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler, both part of the University of Texas System. RECREATION Just like its close neighbor, Tyler, the city of Chandler has many great opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Within Chandler, if you are looking for recreation areas for organized activities, Winchester Park provides baseball fields, as well as exercise stations and walking paths. If you're looking to get away from the city, McCain Memorial Park is located along Hwy 31 and has picnic tables and a walking path. Chandler is also located 10 miles from Lake Palestine which can keep anyone busy with access to bird watching, boating, camping, and fishing with its many varieties of fish including largemouth bass, white & hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish and sunfish. Boating facilities are offered through the Lake Palestine Marina with plenty of docking, easy boat launching and a convenient floating gas dock. You can also use their rental facilities and rent a pontoon, paddleboat, electric fun boats, kayaks and canoes. Swimming and water skiing are two fun activities and Lake Palestine with its maximum depth at 56 feet is great for any swimming and water skiing challenge! Golfing and hunting are two more favorite activities with lots of opportunities at Lake Palestine. If you like golfing, there is access to great golfing in the area including the Hollytree Country Club, the Oak Hurst Golf Course, the Peach Tree Golf Course, the Arrowhead Golf Club and The Cascades.
